Hare Construction is an established, highly rated construction company based in the Monterey, CA area. We are an innovative leader in both residential and commercial construction and are currently seeking to add an experienced Estimator to our team. Hare Construction team members work closely together to bring our client’s visions and dreams to life.

At Hare Construction, the Estimator is valued as one of the first people to interact with the building process, creating a smooth start for the team. They use technology and mathematical skill to prepare an estimation of the amount of materials and time needed for the construction of a home or commercial property in accordance with Company Policies. They regularly visit sites and work with internal and external stakeholders to deliver optimized results. While this position will be primarily based in the Monterey area, there will also be the opportunity to travel to North Bay counties as the business continues to expand.

Responsibilities

• Identify the scope of work, and prepare a bid package for RFP.
• Be able to perform all tasks from initial call through to contract signature.
• Establish an estimated schedule for each project
• Perform comprehensive side-by-side comparisons of bids to select the most time/cost-effective options
• Organize and prepare cost analysis and ensure all necessary line items are included in each project bid
• Create a Schedule of Values to be presented to the client during the bidding process
• Complete necessary permitting processes before handing off to the Project Manager
• Establish and maintain working relationships with clients, vendors, and subcontractors
• Must understand/comprehend all construction drawings to identify missing items.
• Ability to relay RFI with subs and Architects
• Understanding of local requirements and codes
• If and were possible able to value engineer and present options

Requirements

• Previous experience in project estimation
• Able to work under numerous deadlines
• Exhibit strong skills in organization, prioritization, multi-tasking, and attention to detail
• Ability to read plans/drawings effectively and utilize take-off software
• Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, and basic office machines
• Microsoft Projects experience for scheduling
• Estimating/Budgeting experience with Excel
• Must have the ability to clearly and effectively communicate with clients, subcontractors, and team members
• Experience with Procore, Autodesk / Building Connected is preferred
• Must be able to work independently and have a “self-starter, can-do” attitude
• Experience with vendor negotiation
• Valid Driver's License in Good Standing

Compensation: $80k-$100k DOE. Medical benefits are available after the probationary period.
